Achievements

Sanderson Funeral Homes and its staff have received several awards and recognitions over the years. Here are a few of some of the most recent highlights.

On October 26, 2009, Sanderson Funeral Home was honored by the National Funeral Directors Association during its International Convention & Expo in Boston, Massachusetts. It was inducted into the Hall of Excellence and was one of only ten funeral homes in the nation to be selected this year to recieve the award and only the second funeral home in Tennessee to have the honor. Sanderson Funeral Home received the 2004 National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) Pursuit of Excellence Continuing Achievement award. This mark of excellence honors firms for their outstanding community service, professional integrity and dynamic public relations programs. Sanderson Funeral Homes is one of 245 funeral homes that were presented a Pursuit of Excellence award during the 2004 NFDA Convention and Expo in Nashville, TN.

“Pursuit of Excellence funeral homes provide innovative and compassionate care to families they serve,” said NFDA Chief Executive Officer Christine Pepper. “Through their commitement to their communities and the highest professional standards, these funeral homes are raising the bar for all funeral service providers in the country.”

Achieving recognition in the Pursuit of Excellence program is a rigorous process. A funeral home must meet strict quality service criteria in nine categories of achievement. The categories include: education, compassionate service, technical skills, community and professional service, library or media resources, professional development, in-house staff training, and public and community relations.

Jacky Carver Sr., Jacqueline Carver and Jerry Claiborne qualified for designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.

To receive this award, the practitioner must complete a 180 hour program of continuing education and events. In Addition, the practitioner is required to accumulate 20 hours per year to recertify.
